The transparency of shrimp can be both a blessing and a curse when doing experiments. You can see what you’re doing, but sometimes they are so lightly built that it’s difficult to work with them.
I picked this picture today not just because it’s a lovely colourful image, but because the species shown,
Litopenaeus vannamei, is a close relative of a shrimp species studied in my
new paper at
PeerJ! I’m working on a “behind the scenes” post for tomorrow.
