I strongly disagree with the definitions as given. Among people I know, the term 'nerd' still carries strong connotations of being uncool. It is not good to be a nerd. Being a geek, to me, is a normal, socially functioning person, who is smart and interested in the things much the same way as nerds are, but lacks social incompetence that defines the nerd. I think I'm a geek, but I got pure nerd on the test. I hate the test.
